Welcome back to the SW Series Spotlight. Today we’re shining some light on a rad artist collaboration between Heroin Skateboards and UK artist and illustrator James Jarvis, the JJ Woodcut series.
James Jarvis Heroin Skateboards
The JJ Woodcut series boasts brightly colored solid backgrounds beneath the all-black illustrated characters. This series is not only visually pleasing, but also a good representation of the vibe over at Heroin. They do things differently and they’re proud of that.
Born in London in 1970, Jarvis studied illustration at both the University of Brighton and the Royal College of Art. He has done work for a wide range of clients, from super corporations such as Coca-Cola and Nike all the way to Almost Skateboards. Add Heroin Skateboards to that list.
If you haven’t had the chance to check out their most recent video, you can watch Video Nasty online. It’s jam packed with killer skating and strays from your run of the mill skate video. Also be sure to do a video search for Gou Miyagi, his skating is unlike anyone else and is a must see if you’re not familiar.
