2014 marks the fourth year of Nike’s honoring Black History Month with a premiere shoe collection that pays tribute to the dedication and achievements of top African-American athletes. This is the second year that Nike SB BHM Dunks have been included in the pack.
The Nike SB BHM Dunk Lows are slated for a 2/1/14 release date – this saturday – we’ll have them available online around 8am PST.
Designed under the theme “Sport Royalty” the 2014 BHM collection honors LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Allyson Felix, Maya Moore and Thrasher’s 2013 Skater Of The Year, Ishod Wair. The Nike SB BHM Dunks pay homage to Wair for having made Black History in his own right, being crowned the first African-American SOTY.
While the 2013 Nike SB BHM Dunks were dressed in black, red, green, and gold, this year’s version consists of a tonal black suede upper with black nubuck Swoosh, laser-etched reflective heritage graphics on the rear quarter panel and a red-to-purple gradient midsole cupped by an icy translucent outsole. Custom insoles with heritage print line the interior. Metallic gold appears on the shoelace deubré, tongue patch and heel embroidery. The patch and lace lock display Nike’s unique BHM logo. The official style code is 504750-001.
