The Nike SB Dunk Year of the Horse Shoe is officially hitting the pages of SW on Saturday, January 25th to coincide with the 2014 Chinese New Year. The influence is there, hitting the scene in a bright red colorway, drawing on inspiration from that ancient mythical beast, Nián as well as the custom of exchanging gifts in red envelopes.
Nike is tapping into those Chinese New Year themes of “good fortune”, “happiness”, “wealth” and “longevity” with this limited and anticipated Dunk. The blogs are referring to this Nike SB Dunk High shoe as the “Chinese New Year” and “Year of The Horse” Dunk or “The Red Packet”. The official style name is the Dunk High Premium University Red 313171-667.
Skate Warehouse will be launching the shoe on Saturday, January 25th at approximately 8AM PST. We will have a limited number of pairs and we’re pretty sure they’ll sell out quick. We’re not offering pre-orders, we’re only allowing one pair per customer and we will not be restocking them, so get up early folks, and get your pair.
The Nike SB Dunk Year of the Horse Shoe will be hitting the shelves in classic Chinese New Year tradition, decked out in red with gold details. You’re looking at a full suede upper in that classic Nike Dunk form. Gold accents hit the lining, stitching and trim and gold Chinese lettering sits at the insoles. A major highlight of the shoe is its translucent outsole, speckled with gold spots.
