I was saddened to hear about the passing of Matt Reason earlier this week. For those of you who don’t know, Matt Reason was an undeniably talented skater in the mid 90’s who—along with Ricky Oyola—changed the perception of East Coast skateboarding and coverage. For the SW replay, I chose Matt’s Pro Files part from 411VM issue 12. Take note of the spots. It’s raw street skating at it’s finest. I hope anybody who watches this becomes inspired to pick up their board and explore their surroundings! RIP Matt Reason.
It’s my turn to pick this Friday’s SW Replay and I’m going with Donny Barley’s part in Toy Machine’s Welcome To Hell. His powerhouse east coast style set to Black Sabbath’s “Megalomania” still just gets me amped up. It starts at 15:15 but you should definitely watch the whole vid in stunning 480p resolution. Just like the old days. Baaaarley!
This week our own Jeff Davis, known blogger here at the Skate Warehouse blog, picked the SW Replay. He chose Dylan Rieder in Gravis’ Dylan Video. When asked why he picked it he responded with, “The highwaters.”
This week’s SW Replay is Tony Tave in Circa’s It’s Time video from 2006. We’re giving you the whole video, instead of just Tave’s part, ’cause it’s all worth a re-watch.
“Man that video was fucking sick! That nollie inward heel was gnarly. I think that’s my nollie inward heel inspiration. Tony Tave!” – Cole Garrett
This week our own Matt Clifford picked the SW Replay. I asked Matt why he chose this part and he simply replied, “Because he’s the boss.” Want to have a skate part YOU picked featured on the SW Replay? Send a part that stokes you out and the reason why you picked it to firstname.lastname@example.org and possibly see it here!
This Week’s SW Replay was picked by our own Cole Garrett. Cole chose Transworlds’s Leo Romero First Love Part. “Everybody loves Leo.” – Cole Garrett
This weeks SW Replays is Brian Lotti and Nathan Sacharow’s Blue Line, a staff pick from Max. “I picked Brian Lotti and Nathan Factor Sacharow’s entire Blue Line. It’s beautiful. It’s fast and fluid. I love the story here, the connection between skating and space, the way paths cross. And the overlay of art on video is super cool.” -Max
This weeks SW Replays is Marc Johnson’s part from Fully Flared, chosen by none other than Jarvis.
“I chose this part because it has always inspired me to go out and skate, it’s almost 15 minutes of pure magic and the music is tight!” –Jarvis
