Features Artist: Alex Kopps

Alex Kopps comes from the California College of Arts in San Francisco where he still resides today. Into surf, art, and lifestyle he’s made and been a part of a lot of very cool shit. As an artist, photographer, and director, his reach is far. From his surf film Displacement, which features super8 surf footage of the 70s, to his music video for ”Better Trends” by The Japanese Motors, made with very little money, to the countless books and zines he’s been a part of like Chuzwazza, the Supreme Book, Displacement Book, and Most Likely Zine, to his clear commitment to the polaroid, he’s a guy who seems to have gotten it right. We’ve featured a little bit of everything below, including his new t-shirt with RVCA. The RVCA Kopps Serif Vintage Dye T-Shirt at Skate Warehouse is choice.

Featured Artist: Tim Hendricks

Skate Warehouse always loves it when something new shows up that has a graphic created by an artist in the industry. Don Pendleton’s Sounds of Science deck series and Stance socks blew us away, we just recently mentioned a new t-shirt graphic from Matt Gordon in a post below, and we even have an original painting from Russ Pope hanging in the SW shop. Now Skate Warehouse is happy to spend some time on another artist. Tim Hendricks, who recently made the graphic for the RVCA Nautical Vintage Dye T-Shirt, is one talented guy.

Primarily a tattoo artist, Hendricks is also an artist at large, from original paintings and drawings to industrial design. Tattooing professionally since 1994, Hendricks got his start in his mid teens by practicing his skills on gang members he grew up with. He’s only grown since then, but you can see in his style that he was forever influenced by the culture of his community. Today Hendricks divides his time between skateboarding and surfing and making art.

Perhaps most uniquely, Hendricks is a maker of tattoo machines. These things are gnarly. Not only do they do their job, but they’re works of art. Each one is custom made with hand wound coils and loads of detail.

Below we’ve featured a few of Hendricks pieces and a video about the dude. Head over to SW to check out the RVCA collection and grab the tee.

Featured Artist: Matt Gordon

The artist Matt Gordon is originally from Michigan, where he still resides today. He’s been making art for some time and has worked with RVCA through the Artist Network Program, on shirts including the RVCA Mainland Buffet T-Shirt, which we’ve currently got in stock.

The art is weird, the guy is weirder. You can see why we like it. Check out the RVCA video interview below and head over to Skate Warehouse to grab the shirt.
