Vans Half Cab Shoes on the Skate Warehouse Pick of the Week

The Vans Half Cab Shoe in Black/Classic Blue is this weeks Skate Warehouse Pick of the Week, and this one was easy. The Vans Half Cab is a classic, easy to recognize shoe with its unique silhouette and that original rectangular logo patch on the side.

The Half Cab is Steve Caballero’s shoe and represents what skate culture stands for. One of the greatest talents and minds in skate history, Steve Caballero is known for inventing difficult tricks and air variations for vertical skating. He has set the long-standing record for the highest air achieved on a halfpipe.

Born November 8, 1964, in San Jose, California, Caballero has been skating since the age of 12. His career began when he was 14 under the sponsorship of Campbell Skate Park. After finishing fifth in a skate contest in Escondido Stacy Peralta offered him a sponsorship with Powell Peralta. By 1980 he was pro and had invented the ’Caballerial’, also known as the fakie 360 ollie. A member of the Bones Brigade, Caballero has appeared in a number of videos, such as The Search For Animal Chin. Since then he’s made the cover of Thrasher Magazine numerous times, has been a character in the Tony Hawk video game and a member in numerous bands, including The Faction, and was a part of Stacy Peralta’s 2012 documentary film, Bones Brigade: An Autobiography, currently for sale at Skate Warehouse.
