About the Author
The year is 1966; The Van Doren Rubber Company was born. As an emerging sport, there were no “skate shoes” and Vans quickly became the first choice for skateboarders in the 1970’s. In 1978, not too far north from the birthplace of Vans, four friends saw a need for better equipment for skateboarders – thus the Independent Truck Company. Both Vans and Independent have a deep history in skateboarding, so it only makes sense that one day they would get together and make something special.
Introducing the Vans x Independent Sk8 Hi collab shoe. Built on the classic Sk8-Hi silhouette with an Independent colorway and trim package, these special edition kicks also feature Vans-Pro Classic amenities, which include an Ultra Cush HD insole and Duracap reinforcement on the outsole. These shoes are sure to please the skateboarding fan or enthusiast of any age, whether they remember the good ‘ol days or have only lived it through the videos. Timeless design combined with modern features means anyone looking for a stylish and functional skate shoe should have these kicks at the top of their list.
