Anthony Van Engelen

Anthony Van Engelen, known as AVE by most, has been a professional skateboarder for over 25 years now. Having turned pro for Alien Workshop in 1999, his part in "Photosynthesis" has become legenedary over the years. His raw and fast style has impressed millions of skateboarders. AVE skates fast and goes big. He's a favorite among many professionals today. AVE's video parts are some of the most impressive skateboarding has ever seen. In 2003, his DC Shoes video part really showcased his raw emotions. In 2009, his "Mindfield" part was named 'Best Video Part' by Transworld. In 2015, AVE said his Vans' "Propeller" video part was the hardest he'd ever worked which, ultimately, led him to earning Thrasher's Skater of the Year. AVE is also a partner in the game-changing Fucking Awesome Skateboards and Hockey Skateboards brands. Anthony has also had some ground-breaking pro model shoes with Vans: namely, the AVE Pro. These models have pushed boundaries in terms of style, technology, and performance. Now into his mid 40s, AVE is still doing it. Anthony has been a mentor of sorts to the next generation, showing them that sobriety combined with physical and mental health can lead to longevity.
